LESYA POPIL received her BFA from The University of The Arts in 2000 where she was awarded outstanding modern dancer and choreographer. Since then, she has performed in works by Ruth Andrien, Henry Danton, Hernando Cortez, and Dancefusion. Lesya has traveled to Tunisia, Africa to assist Ruth Andrien in teaching Paul Taylor's Esplanade. She has also presented her work at the "Rocky's" (through the Philadelphia Live Arts Festival) at the Tritone (with Mariana Sadowska) and in Bytom, Poland and Kaunas, Lithuania. She is a rostered artist with The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and has been a member of Group Motion since 2002.
JOHN LUNA John Luna, originally from Texas, finished his BFA in Modern Dance Performance from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA in the spring of 2006. He has danced for artists such as Curt Haworth, Myriam Herve-Gil, Silvana Cardell, Manfred Fishbeck, Brian Sanders, and Ronen Koresh. John Luna was one of the first dance majors at the University of the Arts to participate in the school’s Choreography Emphasis program.
OLIVE PRINCE As a professional dancer, choreographer and educator, Olive Prince enthusiastically combines her study of the moving body with her passion for education. Prince earned her BA from William Smith College, where she majored in Children's Lives and Public Policy and minored in Dance. In 2005, Prince received her MFA in Dance from Temple University, where she accepted the Emerging Choreographer Award, a project completion grant, and a Graduate Teaching Position. In 2004, Prince's choreography was featured in the ACDFA National Festival at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, where she was nominated for the Dance Magazine Outstanding Student Performer Award. Most recently, Prince performed in Katowice, Poland and was commissioned to choreograph for West Chester University. Prince has also designed and implemented numerous curricula for young children and the arts and taught dance at Temple University, Drexel University and Stockton College. Prince will be featured as a Resident Artist at Philadelphia's Community Education Center throughout 2007.
HEDY WYLAND Hedy Wyland was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. In 2003 she received her BFA in modern dance from the University of the Arts, where she was given the award for outstanding modern dancer. She is active in the Philadelphia dance community, performing at many events throughout the area such as: Glue Performance series, The Rocky Awards, The Garden State Dance Festival, Lady Festival, the University of the Arts Alumni Concert, The National Constitution Center and the Wednesday Night performance Series at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. For the past three years she has taken part in the Philadelphia Fringe and Live Arts Festival working with Brian Sanders' "JUNK".
RACHEL SLATER Rachel is from the lovely Portland, Oregon. In May 2007 she finished her BFA from the University of the Arts in Modern Dance Performance, with an Emphasis in Choreography. In the past few years Rachel has performed and studied for artists such as Anouk van Dijk, Alonzo King, Curt Haworth, Silvana Cardell, Jennifer Nugent, Brian Sanders, Jennifer Johnson, and Sarah Slipper. She is a co-founder of the new dance collective Pink Hair Affair and recently presented their work in the Philadelphia Fringe Festival. She also co-produced The Lush Project this past April.
