Group Motion Announces 2008/2009 Season

2008-2009 marks Group Motion’s 40th year in Philadelphia, and we are excited to bring you a season reflecting our sense of innovation and tradition.

We will again open our year of events with a Philadelphia Live Arts performance of Sonic Dances, a site-specific work that will move down Broad Street for the opening of the Live Arts Festival , featuring the technological innovation of “moving music!” October is a busy month for us, featuring a performance at the German Society on Spring Garden St, our 40th Anniversary Kick-Off party, and Spiel Uhr. We will celebrate a weekend of performance, workshops and community activities in January with our 2008-09 Winterfest. The culmination the season will be the collaboration with Wally Cardona and Phil Kline at the Old Metropolitan Opera House on North Broad Street at the end of June, as part of the Hidden City Festival.

Our dynamic and vibrant workshop series continues with weekly improvisational workshops on Friday nights and our summer dance retreat series. We’ll continue to keep our work fresh and accessible with Inside Dance workshops (where you’re invited to come see how we create work) and open rehearsals (where you can view the ongoing process). Our 2008-2009 season is a big one, so don’t miss it!
