Kumquat Dance Collective is an artist-driven affiliation between four Philadelphia-based dance companies: Group Motion, Rennie Harris Puremovement, Bald Mermaids and associate member GENGHIS Dance Company.

Created to address common solutions to common problems, the Kumquat project directly serves the artistic community by integrating management and administration; maintaining a shared work space as well as offering artistic exchange through rehearsals, workshops, teaching, presentation and performances. The Kumquat Festival, a bi-annual event, features the collective companies in performances including free classes, workshops and open rehearsals during the festival.

This initiative targets not only the three companies, but accesses the larger dance community, individual artists and groups in the Philadelphia cultural community. Kumquat Dance Center is currently housed in the Community Education Center at 3500 Lancaster Ave in West Philadelphia. These headquarters provide rehearsal space, a theater, regular classes, workshops and performances in one setting--all at a reasonable cost to the outside dance community.
